Meet our head wordsmith
About Candice
Hi, I’m Candice. I’m so happy that you have taken the time to get to know me! First things first – I’m a country girl at heart, with a penchant for city living; I love travelling within my beautiful country (Australia!), as well as around the globe (11 countries and counting…). But most of all, I love words. Some would say I’m a bookworm, perhaps even a nerd, because nothing brings me more joy than creating, reshaping and correcting content (well, other than my two kids, when they’re behaving).
My office is overflowing with books. I’m not one for genre discrimination. Crime, romance, age-old literature, nonfiction – the list goes on. My top three? Ooh, that’s a tough one. But I would have to go with Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden, Khaled Hosseini’s A Thousand Splendid Suns, Dark Places by Gillian Flynn, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, The Diary of Ann Frank and All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque. Okay, so that’s a few more than three. I can’t help myself.
What I love about all of these books are the depth of the stories, the craftmanship and the beauty of the words – all brought together by not only the writer but expert editing.
You may wonder, what exactly does a book editor do? Well, we study the written word like a piece of art and, using age-old principles and contemporary learnings, shape it into a refined version of the author’s work.
